Vetramil is an ointment containing special honey and essential oils. The ointment protects and softens dry and inflamed skin. The honey in the product has high enzymatic activity and a low pH level. When applied in a moist environment, the enzyme glucose oxidase in the honey provides a small but prolonged release of low-concentration hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide cleanses the skin and stimulates its regeneration. The low pH level creates a healing-friendly environment and restores the skin’s natural pH balance. The antioxidants in the honey soften the skin, the essential oils enhance the effectiveness of the honey’s action, repel insects, and protect the wound from licking.
