Starter feed for calves should be offered starting from 3–5 days old, beginning with 100 g per day and gradually increasing the amount. Fresh starter feed and free access to fresh drinking water must be provided every day. The calf is ready to be weaned off milk when it has doubled its birth weight and consumes at least 1.5–2 kg of starter feed per day.
